Mukhtasar Al Quduri - Fiqh Al Ibadat (Hanafi)
This retreat took place Saturday, August 24th, 2013 at Al Farooq Youth and Family Center in Minnesota.
About the Text:
Al Mukhtasar, often called Al Kitab, is perhaps Al-Quduri's most famous work and is one of the important books of Hanafi Fiqh. It addresses issues spanning the entire spectrum of fiqh, covering matters of worship, business, relationships, tahara, and more. One of the scholars said of this book that "whoever memorizes this book is the best accomplished of our associates in memorization, and whoever understands it is the best accomplished of our associates in understanding." As is common with fiqh summary mutun, the book does not make a point of providing evidences for the rules; rather, these evidences can be found in more advanced books and requires knowledge of Usul-al-Fiqh.
About Imam Al Quduri:
He is Abu’l-Hasan Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ja`far ibn Hamdan al-Quduri al-Baghdadi, the Hanafi jurist, born in 362 AH. It is related that when Al Quduri wrote this book, he carried it with him to the Ka`bah, and hung it from its curtains. He asked Allah the Exalted to bless him in it. He was recognized in his time as one of the leaders of the scholars of Hanafi Fiqh in Iraq. He died on 15th Rajab, 428 AH.
The Retreat:
With his extensive knowledge-base, Shaykh Samer teaches this basic fiqh book in a very unique way. He has the ability to explain each ruling thoroughly and how it can be practiced in present-day society. Supplemented with questions from those who attended, this lecture series provides the opportunity to learn how to practice daily ibadat the proper way, and it clears up the confusion of many commonly asked questions about fasting, prayer, and other foundations of the deen.
