Blessed Footsteps - Life of the Prophet Muhammad During the Meccan Period
This retreat took place March 28-30, 2014 at Islamic Foundation in Villa Park, Illinois.
You were modest and none could abase you
And you were neither obscene nor would you clamor.
The foes knew no shortcoming of you
Though their evil eyes always sought them.
The goal of studying the Prophetic biography (Sirah) is not merely to study historical events, but rather to conceptualize the application of Islam's principles by studying their foremost manifestation in the life of the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace). It is by studying the different states and events of his life (Allah bless him and give him peace) that we can begin to understand the virtues of bravery, patience, generosity, humility, and true perfection. Allah The Exalted has said, "There is certainly an excellent example for you in the Messenger of Allah." It is by the study of the Sirah that Allah may also realize for us gratitude to the Prophet and the early Muslims for the hardship they endured to preserve and transmit the message of Islam to future generations.
Join us for a comprehensive study of the Sirah with Shaykh Samer al-Nass, aiming to acquire a deeper practical understanding of the life of the Prophet and his Companions. Dr. Samer has spent the last several decades teaching the various Islamic sciences in the USA and overseas and will provide deep insight into the Prophetic biography and its relevancy and application to our lives. We will focus on the Meccan period for this program with hopes to cover the Madinah period in the future inshaAllah.
